In August 2024, I heard a song that had a huge emotional impact on me. “Die with a Smile” by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars is an incredibly beautiful song. It stirred a strong thought in me, that it would be wonderful to make music.
My father (Sune) had a truly beautiful singing voice. What if he did the singing and I created catchy melodies using today’s available tools? I had digitized songs my father recorded himself in the early 1970s with a small cassette recorder. Unfortunately, the audio quality was poor, a bad microphone, recorded in the living room with guitar or banjo accompaniment while my mother was doing housework in the background and a C-cassette.
My father spent a lot of time with me when I was little. I remember many moments of him practicing songs at home while I played on the floor nearby. He also often took me with him to the gym when he was practicing acrobatics and juggling for performances. From those times, when I was 1 to 5 years old, I developed a strong bond with my father. When I was seven, my father began drinking alcohol. His drinking increased over the years and began to seriously affect our family life. Sober, he was a wonderful person, but unfortunately, those days became rare. My father died of internal organ diseases caused by long-term alcohol abuse when I was 31.
Thankfully, my mother (Helena) didn’t drink at all. She worked rotating shifts until retirement, kept the home clean, cooked meals, and encouraged me to succeed in life. She has always supported me, and later also my children, selflessly. To me, my mother is the greatest superhero imaginable.
I designed Sunrise Helena to be one of the band members. My mother was not a singer, and Sunrise Helena does not really look like her, but she spiritually represents my mother, as a strong and wholly good person. A person who truly wishes, with all her heart, for the world to become a better place.
The song, “Think It Higher” (finished on January 21, 2026), is a pop song about developing personal thinking. In the summer of 2025, I listened to Finnish philosopher Esa Saarinen’s book trilogy in audiobook form, especially the final volume, Hymy (Smile), several times over. Its core themes were thinking about thinking and love. Then, during one of my runs, I got the idea that the theme could be turned into an energetic song in which contemplating things that are completely pointless for me would be replaced by more empowering thoughts. So I started writing the lyrics and hunting for catchy pop melodies. The roughly four-month journey included many moments of despair, the most challenging of which was cloning my father’s singing voice. I tried to clone the singing voice with all its nuances using various machine-learning programs, but the technology is not yet sufficient. So I had to settle for a compromise — for now, while waiting for further development.
The purpose of the band’s existence is to create music with both catchy rhythms and beautiful melodies, accompanied by lyrics that encourage listeners to love life and to grow as individuals. One of the themes of the songs will also be nature; its beauty, uniqueness, and importance for all life. The focus is therefore on meaningful values and spreading positivity.
The goal is for Klasune’s music to find its way into the hearts of a wider audience. This would open a new chapter in the band’s story and enable its members to act as influencers on a global scale. Important themes include issues related to environmental protection as well as helping children who suffer from their parents’ substance abuse.
